PROFF- Interstellar / Steps

Saturday, May 21, 2011

Vladimir Ershov, famously known as PROFF in the EDM circuit, has just appeared with another quality release on the world's most-beloved progressive house label, Anjunadeep! The release dubbed as "Interstellar / Steps" spawned two chart-worthy tunes "Interstellar" and "Steps", which in fact currently rank 78th and 77th on the Beatport top 100 progressive house tunes respectively.

"Interstellar" carries the unmistakable sound of PROFF-- electrifying bass perfectly accompanied by a set of mind-levitating atmospheric pads as well as layers of mystical arps. By the time the track hits the breakdown, it just sinks into a sea of bliss! This is the sound of PROFF, the sound loved by the millions of people in the progressive house circuit!

The second track, "Steps" is a bit different through. This time, PROFF comes up with something a bit heavy as embodied by the kicks, but at the same time, still retaining that cool vibe present in most of his productions. As "Steps" reaches the breakdown, it reminds us listeners of euphoric and gravity-defying arp progressions made famous by Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep founders, Above & Beyond. In a way, "Steps" brings back some of the good nostalgic vibes from PROFF himself, and not to mention, the Anjuna outfit!

"Interstellar / Steps" is out now on Beatport. This is PROFF, once again keeping progressive house music real!

Michael Cassette- Memories (90's Piano Mix)

Wednesday, December 22, 2010

Comfort sounds once again greet us as the year slowly draws to an end. Before we start counting down for 2011, let us first brace ourselves for Michael Cassette's marvelous eight-minute wonder, "Memories (90's Piano Mix)! For starters, Michael Cassette (also known as Komytea) is one of the biggest names on Anjunadeep-- UK-based progressive house label by trance heavyweights Above & Beyond-- as well as in the progressive house industry as a whole. And just recently, MC's latest debut album entitled,"Temporarity" has just been released, in which "Memories" was spawned as an iTunes-exclusive track.

Michael Cassette's imprints are all over "Memories"! With its majestic-sounding piano progressions and its trademark Michael Cassette vintage synths and basslines, this track is without a doubt peak-time material or for some, a heightening set-ender!

The stunning production Michael Cassette had implemented on "Memories" is just a hint of more astonishing crafts from "Temporarity"!

Answer42- Shoreline / Tucano

Friday, July 9, 2010

Wim Broersma, Francesco D'Este, and Ilich Molin, collectively known as Answer42 , just released a sparkling spectacle on one of the leading labels in the progressive house scene, Anjunadeep. In case you have forgotten, Answer42's "Pink Houses", featuring Belinda Frank, was one of biggest progressive tracks of 2009 as it had received high acclamations from different artists and labels as well as having the honor of being the opening track for Above & Beyond's Anjunabeats Vol. 7. "Shoreline / Tucano" is their latest two-tracker release on Anjunadeep.

Answer42 opens up the release with "Shoreline". Characterized to be carrying A42's signature sound, "Shoreline" is the mind-levitating follow-up to their 2009 hit, "Pink Houses". The release ends with the second and last track, "Tucano". Currently on the Beatport Top 100 progressive house tracks, "Tucano" portrays the milder and smoother side of the productions of Answer42.

Stepping-up for team Anjuna for the second time, the Italian producers behind Answer42 present two brand new tunes, "Shoreline" and "Tucano"!

PROFF - Abandoned / Albina / Tell

Sunday, June 13, 2010

One of my most favorite progressive house artists is back on Anjunadeep with a highly-definitive, three-track release, "Abadoned / Albina / Tell"! For those who do not know, Vladimir Ershov, or PROFF, is one of Russia's biggest progressive house producers, as well as a frontman in various prominent labels like Anjunadeep. In a nutshell, this new EP from PROFF exhibits a wide spectrum of new and road-tested sounds!

Abandoned
Alpha track, Abandoned gives off easy-going melodies as it represents the sound of Anjunadeep. Having a climax filled with blissful emotive piano melodies and deep-delving synths simply brings the best out of PROFF!

Albina
As Abandoned drifted deeper into the sound, this next track soared higher than the starry night sky. Albina caters PROFF's time-tested classic sound: thick and electrifying basslines and aerial and melodic synths and pads. We danced to Ershov's "My Personal Summer", "Sydney" and his remixes for "The World Doesn't Know", "Air Stream", and "Hola". Now, we have another excuse why we should never stop!

Tell
The last track also caters PROFF's unmistakable basslines; however, there is something in Tell you would not want to miss out on. I am talking about the highly-climactic peak enhanced with Anjunadeep's well-embraced echoing piano melodies and a very captivating vocal hook that takes the track to a higher state. Aside from which, PROFF tops this track off with starry melodies similar to the ones on his remix of Rest Point's "Air Stream"!

Abandoned, Albina, and Tell truly capture what progressive music is all about, and with PROFF being one of the forerunners of the scene, there will always be reasons to why we return to the genre we love.

Boom Jinx & Andrew Bayer- By All Means/ So It Goes

Thursday, April 15, 2010

They teamed up for their highly-acclaimed release, To the Six, and they're hitting the charts once again as a team. Anjuna heavy-weights, Boom Jinx and Andrew Bayer are back in a flash with their three-piece EP, By All Means/ So It Goes released under Anjunadeep.

By All Means (Original Mix) caters familiar vibes and synth-work as heard from To the Six. With mild atmosphere wrapping the track in ooze, By All Means is one certified a tune of quality and euphony. Taking on a different route, By All Means (Club Mix) is the pumped-up counterpart of the original.

Third and last track on the EP will catch you off-guard. So It Goes is the melting-pot of Jinx's serene melodies and Bayer's grounding basslines. Exploding in freshness, bliss, and solace, So It Goes brings the EP to a heightening close.

Always having the ear for tranquil melodies and the taste for spherical sensations, the Jinx-Bayer tandem will always make effortless wonders.

Joonas Hahmo- Brainflush/ Now or Never

Wednesday, April 7, 2010

I thought we have lost another champion in the progressive house scene when Joonas Hahmo went on a hiatus after the release of his remix on "Captured" back in July 2009. Little did I know, he was busy setting up his very own record label, Hahmo Recordings-- the start of a decade-long Renaissance for this young Finnish producer.

Joonas Hahmo, like what I have said, is a producer based in Finland, and he has been making music for the people since 2004. He started off with a project named Alt + F4 with fellow countryman Matt Kotala. In this outfit, the duo were able to produce quite a decent number of trance-edged melodies on various labels like Anjunabeats and Sential Recordings.

Among the labels Hahmo had previously signed to as a solo artist, Anjunadeep is the label we can call his home for it was in this family where he was able to release top-notched gems like "Cocktail Bar", "Sound of Sunday", "Together", "Tampere by Night", and several more. (I really mean it when I say "top-notched".)

Just a couple of days ago, Joonas Hahmo finally releases "Brainflush" and "Now or Never", two tracks that signal the christening of his new shiny label.

Brainflush
This sizzling new track is a gift from the heavens! Having a trance-edge appeal gives its listeners an ecstatic feel, while the soaring "Hahmo-only" melodies paint the track gold. Together with the never-faltering basslines J.H. brings, he also snuck in familiar sounds in the breakdown. Brainflush definitely brings the finest out of Hahmo.

Now or Never
Lowering the energy levels a bit, Joonas brings the EP to a close with his chunky piece, Now or Never. Electrifying melodies play as the stomping kicks enter, after that the buzzing basslines join in the fun. Composition-wise, Now or Never is steady and rock-solid. I personally find this as a perfect set-starter for live gigs, it really brings the energy where it's supposed to be.

A new and exciting Hahmo era has begun! With his popping tracks on the pipe, and with the rise of his record label, there simply is no turning back for J.H. Clean the dust off your monitors, and prepare your eardrums for the return of Finland's finest.

Monakhov & Que- Hola EP

Wednesday, March 31, 2010

Russians have invaded Anjunadeep territory for the nth time now-- but don't get me wrong, these guys know what they are doing. The luscious Hola-- yes, the one that appeared on the shiny Anjunadeep 02 compilation months ago-- has been taken out from the oven, freshly baked and topped with a sizzling remix from one of Russia's renowned progressive house producers, PROFF.

Hola (Original Mix)
Your avid ears can finally indulge themselves to the full 8-minute version of Hola. Albeit the original mix sounding quite minimal compared to other tracks from the label, its mystical feel and electrifying basslines still catch me off-guard. All of these were possible through Alex Monakhov and Serge Que.

Hola (PROFF Remix)
Vladimir Ershov claims that this year isn't really a roll for him, but I'd say otherwise. His tracks, drenched in lush melodic sound, always end up on top of my favorites list. Take this for instance, Hola gets an incredibly stunning make-over from Russia's finest. From his trademark thick, rich, and rolling basslines to the aerial atmosphere he incorporates, PROFF remains to be one of the ambassadors of Russian progressive house music.
Now you guys know why I get hyped up when new tracks spawn from Russian progressive house producers.

Marcus Schossow pres. 1985- London/ 1985 EP

Saturday, March 6, 2010

Marcus Schossow finally makes his debut on Anjunadeep under the mysterious guise 1985. Being an electro-trance gourmand that he is, Schossow has perfected the concoction for lethal, gut-grinding, electronic dance music, and this two-track EP signals his docking on Anjunadeep shores. By the way, London first appeared on Anjunadeep 02, so be sure to check that out too!

London
Atmospheric and dreamy, London is a treat to aficionados out there who like their Schossow tracks served mild. Albeit that, this track perfectly fits Schossow's other tunes from his debut album, Outside the Box because of its composition. Let the music take control...

1985
No, this is not Ernesto and Bastian's Thrill, this is Marcus Schossow's 1985. (If you're a trancehead, you'll understand what I am saying.) Anyway, grounding basslines are on this track-- something I have been expecting (and enjoying) from Schossow's tunes lately. Aside from that, 1985 also has nocturnal synths flying around, and I like it. Mean and straightforward melodies with a crazy solo, 1985 is one stomping piece fastidious listeners would worship.

Marcus Schossow takes progressive house music to the next level through his alter-ego, 1985.

Paul Keeley feat. Natalie Peris- Disco Belle EP

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

DISCO BELLE EP

Artist:
Paul Keeley featuring Natalie Peris

Released: February 23, 2010

Label:
Anjunadeep

Genre: Progressive House

Tracklisting:

  • Disco Belle (Dub Mix)- (8:09)
  • Disco Belle (Vocal Mix)-(8:07)
  • Disco Belle (Peter Martin Remix)-(8:16)
  • Disco Belle (Shawn Mitiska & Ben Preston Dub Mix)- (6:46)
  • Disco Belle (Shawn Mitiska & Ben Preston Vocal Mix)- (6:46)

Being the debut release of Paul Keeley for this year, Disco Belle EP comes in five different variations, and one if which was featured in the new chart-topping compilation album, Anjunadeep 02. To add to the list of firsts, Disco Belle is Paul's first vocal track ever (if I remember it right).

Vocal Mix & Dub Mix

If you like more emphasis on the piano and the other melodies, then the dub mix is for you. However, if you're more of a listener who wants something to sing along with, then get the original vocal track. Disco Belle carries the traditional sound of Anjunadeep: blunt sweeping basslines, echoing aquatic-inspired piano melodies , and emotive breakdowns. These two variants of the track signal Keeley's dive back to the great blue Anjunadeep.

Peter Martin Remix

Quite techy, haunting, and pumping-- the Peter Martin remix is the Disco Belle of the dark side.

Shawn Mitiska & Ben Preston Vocal Mix & Dub Mix

Two impressive progressive artists join forces to create a fresh remix of the track. We have known Mitiska for hanging out with Cerf and Jaren to create emotionally-packed, progressive tunes, but this time Mitiska's collaborator is Ben Preston, a British progressive house and trance mainstay who is also half of "Tastemakers" and "Soulmakers".

The versions crafted by the duo are quite unique, should I say. Crispy melodies can never go wrong with groovy basslines topped with Keeley's synths sound-- fresh pick on a sunny day.

Well, here they are, five different versions of Paul Keeley's "Disco Belle"-- go ahead and pick one.

Boom Jinx & Jaytech- Milano EP

Sunday, January 24, 2010

Australian progressive house master, Jaytech joins forces with Anjuna's boy-wonder, Boom Jinx as they produce a unique, dreamy, yet sun-drenched prog house anthem, Milano.

Jaytech's unmistakable chunky bass line and Jinx's unique mystical aura make this melodic track one of a kind. Ad Brown breaks progressive house standards as he adds more atmospheric feel to Milano. Moreover, he also took this track to a deeper dimension through his dark and dirty melodies. Having said those, I find Ad Brown's remix an excellent contrast to the original.

The original version of Milano appeared in Above & Beyond's Anjunabeats Volume 7, so be sure to check that release out.

Paul Keeley- Cloud 9 (Original Mix)

I am still high on Keeley's "Life Aquatic", which was released as a track in Anjunadeep:01 months ago, and here comes Paul Keeley with another magnificent release, "Cloud 9".

"Life Aquatic" took us under the deep blue see and allowed us to experience a one-of-a-kind progressive house experience. This time, Keeley's "Cloud 9" takes us up above the soothing clouds.

Simply beautiful...
