Addex- Rumble in the Bronx

Friday, July 13, 2012

About:

It’s a full-force deep house line up for this Pesto Music release, “Rumble in the Bronx” by Romanian producer Addex! For the remixes, expect superb material from Greek producer Ilias Katelanos, Spanish deep-house-legend-in-the-making Alvaro Hylander, and one of the leading female artists in the deep and tech house scene, Nadja Lind.

Sounds Like:

The original mix of “Rumble in the Bronx” in terms of its composition is rather straightforward, yet its simplicity allows great emphasis on its irresistible groove brought about by its punchy hats and bouncy bass. Adding more dance-value to this wonderful deep house tune are the vocal snippets and timely placed chords. You may also find the flutes and guitar plucks on top as fascinating as they add an organic feel to the track.

Now on to the remixes, the first in line is the remix by Greek producer Ilias Katelanos. Guaranteed, when listening to an Ilias Katelanos production, it will take you on a bay-side trip by the tranquil mangroves or simply put, a nice warm tropical cruise! Ilias Katelanos perfectly blends his trademark sound with that of Addex’s and comes up with this smooth, warm deep house track.

Next up is the remix from DeepWit Recordings label co-owner, Alvaro Hylander. Alvaro lands heavy four-on-the-floor kicks together with his arsenal of lush, glowing, and reverberated sounds— turning “Rumble in the Bronx” into one main-room stomper!

Nadja Lind’s remix is the third and last remix on the package but it definitely isn’t the least. A work of elegance and emotion materialized through the rich atmospheric pads, female vocal snippets, and its overall levitating feel, this Nadja Lind Remix definitely gives this release a proper atmospheric reinterpretation.

Last in line is the Dub mix by Addex himself. This Dub caters a more organic approach to Addex’s sound.

Recommendation:

Overall, this has been a great release! The original mix and Alvaro Hylander’s remix really have the groove and will definitely make it to the dance-floors, while the Ilias Katelanos and Nadja Lind remixes take the alternate route in delivering a more atmospheric, light-on-the-ear sound. But if we were to pick out our favorites that match our musical preference, we’d go for the original, the Alvaro Hylander, and Ilias Katelanos remixes.

Tim Andresen- Watcha Want

Sunday, June 10, 2012

About:

Tim Andresen, head honcho for the label "What Happens", is one of Denmark's successful deep and tech house talents. Aside from him being hailed as the "Best DJ" and "Most Popular Nordic DJ" in the Danish Club Awards, Tim Andresen's talent never failed to gain the support from the big guns in the industry including Pete Tong, Mark Knight, and Fatboy Slim, among others.

"Watcha Want"-- a three track release on Denmark-based deep house label, "DeepWit Recordings"-- marks Tim's debut on the label. Remixing duties fall onto the hands of DeepWit Recordings co-owner Alvaro Hylander, and Acryl Music label boss Da Funk !

Sounds Like:

Coming in with a steady four-by-four groove, the original mix of "Watcha Want" puts forth nicely-balanced layers of silky-smooth atmosphere, delayed rhodes, and reverberated vocal snippets. The bass tightens up the groove as the kick-hat-clap interplay binds all the elements together. Simple and clean to the ear, this is "Watcha Want", the original mix, by Tim Andresen.

First up from the remixes is Da Funk's. Da Funk plays around with some Roland TR-909 drums and comes up with his remix dubbed as, "Da Funk's Fancy Some 909 Dub". Similar to the original mix, the Fancy 909 Dub still preserves that thin layered atmosphere as Da Funk patches up some stomping kicks and some acidic grinding bass for contrast.

Upon seeing Alvaro's name as a remixer, we immediately expected something lush and really deep, as to we getting used to the sound he has perfected. True enough, Alvaro Hylander throws in an in-your-face deep, groovy reinterpretation of "Watcha Want".

Recommendation:

Now, for the verdict. Overall, "Watcha Want" did not disappoint us, in fact, it pretty much amazed us, reminding us what deep house music is all about-- atmosphere, groove, and feel. We recommend getting all the tracks on this one because selecting only one favorite would be quite a difficult thing to do given the talents and mastery of the artists appearing on this release.

Seraphine- Costa Lounge

Thursday, February 2, 2012

About:

DeepWit Recordings takes us into the depths of audio perception once again, this time with Seraphine's brand new release, "Costa Lounge". Seraphine, for starters, is the guise of Polish deep house producer and DJ, Sylwester Gębczyk. But don't get us wrong, Seraphine is no new name on the label. In fact, "State of Mind and Memories" was Seraphine's debut release (together with Silt) on DeepWit back in May 2011, while "Just a Dream", also another track from him was included in the highly-acclaimed DeepWit Recordings Autumn Sampler

"Costa Lounge" is a four-track release that not only features Seraphine's two originals: "Costa Lounge" and "Another Boring Love Story", but also showcases the sounds of fellow-Polish artist, Tom Bednarczyk and DeepWit head honcho, Alvaro Hylander!

Sounds Like:

"Costa Lounge", the original mix is all about the deep Rhode chords, resonant vocal samples, and punchy hi-hat work. Of course, the bass is a given-- deep, groovy, smooth. This original mix, in addition, is something one would fully appreciate on a roof-deck or on a balcony far away from bustling cities.

The Tom Bednarczyk remix of "Costa Lounge" on the other hand intensifies the energy of the track by adding more resonance and by giving more emphasis on the percussion-- brilliant.

Things get a little darker with "Another Boring Love Story"-- a track dubbed with a seemingly seductive dialogue sample and patched up with a strongly filtered and flanged chord.

Last, Alvaro Hylander takes "Another Boring Love Story" and turns it into one of his own. Expect the trademark sound of Alvaro Hylander: a sound of discriminating shade of deepness that will definitely seduce you to the deeper side of sound.

Recommendation:

"Costa Lounge" from the elegant title itself seemed promising-- it was something that enticed us into expecting something of pure quality and class. The actual release didn't deviate far from our expectations: Seraphine walked the talk with this fantastic release and it also made us want to look forward to more of his productions!

We also think it would be premature to end this review without recommending the fine fine FINE craft from Alvaro Hylander, so guys, don't even attempt to check-out your cart without the Alvaro Hylander remix of "Another Boring Love Story"!

Alvaro Hylander- Cream Soda

Saturday, July 2, 2011

1. Cream Soda (Original Mix)
2. Cream Soda (Blakkat Remix)
3. Stop (Original Mix)
4. Stop (The Messenger Remix)

The revolution for a noncommercial yet innovative deep house sound sees new light with DeepWit Recordings' latest release, "Cream Soda" by the label's very own Alvaro Hylander. Together with partner-in-crime, Sierra Chandler, Alvaro brought to life DeepWit Recordings to serve as one of the scene’s epitome for deviant deep house music. As the fourth installment on the label, “Cream Soda” features the organic sounds of Alvaro Hylander as well as the suave sounds of Blakkat and The Messenger.

Within the first few seconds into playing the original mix of “Cream Soda” one can already feel the organic but groovy vibe of the track. According to Hylander himself, “Cream Soda” is a track made back in spring in anticipation of summer, and he was inspired to put together simple melodies that embody the sexy warm vibe of summer. Onto the hands of Blakkat, Mark Bell, one of the veterans in the industry, “Cream Soda” turns into a lush and funky soundtrack that serves as an excellent alternative to the original!

Side B of this release is “Stop”, a deep-drenched track available in two versions: an original version from Alvaro and a remix from The Messenger. On to the darker side of Alvaro’s productions, “Stop” is one of your ideal midnight deep house tracks that puts together deep atmosphere and sweeping hi-hats. The Messenger, a music project by Maria Jones and Joel Heim, also celebrates this release with a remix on “Stop”. Their reinterpretation in three words is fresh, groovy, and deep!

Alvaro Hyalnder’s “Cream Soda” is out now, be sure to take part of this revolution by properly supporting this release brought to you by DeepWit Recordings!

Cadatta feat. Din QC- True / False

Tuesday, March 29, 2011

DeepWit Recordings is finally up and running with its much-awaited debut release, “True / False” by Athens-based soundsmith, Cadatta

Let your soul set afloat with deepness-injected remixes from fellow-Greek producer Ilias Katelanos, Italian jazzy-funky-deep house connoisseur Andrea Guazzeroni aka. SpeakDeep, and DeepWit Recordings head honcho, Alvaro Hylander.

First in line is “True”— a deep craft from Cadatta and Din QC. “True” effortlessly brings to life an array of echoing melodies, sedative atmosphere, and head-nodding rhythm. Also, you might just catch yourselves unconsciously movin’ to the irresistibly groovin’ bass!

Ilias Katelanos, for his remix, takes us to the bayside with his soothing sun-drenched interpretation of “True”! This is definitely one for those warm tropical nights by the bay. . .

“False”, the second track from Cadatta, showcases the darker and heavier side of his productions. With haunting vocalesque samples and subtle hints of saxophone and harp carefully combined with its sweeping big-room riff— “False” truly captures the true essence of the deep! SpeakDeep, on the other hand, gives “False” a saxy and hip makeover as the second-to-the-last track.

Last, but definitely not the least, is the Alvaro Hylander remix of “False”. Expect top-notched feel-good deep and groovy vibes from half of the team who has made DeepWit Recordings possible!

Interview with ALVARO HYLANDER [2011]

Monday, February 7, 2011

DeepWit [Recordings] is made out of passion and love.

It is because of his love and passion for deep house music that Alvaro Hylander keeps on going. Although currently based in Denmark, Alvaro's early manifestations of his passion can be traced back in his years in Southern Spain where he started DJing and producing at a very young age.  As time passed, he had found a stronger connection between his sound and his identity as he developed his personal style in producing deep, sexy, groovy, and organic house music.

Alvaro's  unfaltering efforts in delivering untainted deep house music in Denmark has lead him to appearing on various labels worldwide like Acryl Music, Alma Records, Balance Alliance, Behaviors, Etoka, I Records, Solardish, and Stratospherik. Alvaro Hylander's greatest manifestation of his passion; however, is just about to see light-- and that you will find out in a while. . .

Greetings sir! How are things so far?

Hola Miguel, Things are going great in cold Denmark. Looking forward to the
spring after such a strong wintertime. I really think is the most inspiring season
of the year not just for music, but on every aspect of life.

I heard that you are launching a new record label soon? Can you share
with us some information about it?

Yes!! DeepWit Recordings and I am extremely excited about that. Deep house will be the main ingredient on this venture, with a twist of tech or lounge on occasion. Combining some of the artists we know today on the genre with fresh and upcoming artists. We expect to be “on-air” sometime between February and March with the first release. The best way to stay tuned with what’s going on is to sign up for our newsletter. As well as following us on Our Blog, Soundcloud, Facebook and all those social networks we are all addicted to.
[For demo submissions, send them to: deepwit@me.com or via Soundcloud]

DeepWit Recordings "Snippet" by DeepWit Recordings

What inspired you to create DeepWit Recordings?
Miss Sierra Maydell, She’s the key and engine of DeepWit Recordings.Sharing my love of music is something I have been doing for several years now.I started by djing then gradually started producing and this just felt like thenatural next step. I knew it would be a lot of hard work and preparation andalmost impossible to do by myself, but the work and inspiration she providesgives me the time to concentrate on other matters, such as production.

Do you have any particular artists in mind that you would like to
appear on DeepWit Recordings?

Ideally it would be wonderful having all those artists I personally love and that’smy approach right now since DeepWit is made out of passion and love.Unfortunately we won’t be able to reach out to each of those great artists yet,but step by step we hope to add more and more artists I enjoy.

Let’s talk about. . . the world. In which countries do you think your
label would successfully thrive in?

The universe? Well… that’s what it always says in the contracts. Hahaha. But definitely in all those countries where deep house is thriving and starting totake root like Eastern and South Europe, North America and hopefully in manyother places as people come in contact with this great moving style of music.

Label matters on the side, what to you is the sound of Alvaro Hylander?

Organic, groovy, sexy, deep and moving. Those are the most common feelingsI have while working in the studio. Also that’s the desired outcome through myproductions to those who come in contact with my sound. The way I combinethese elements make it unique, as well as the fact I do a lot of sound design foreach production. This is what makes every work and project exciting for me.

If there was an Alvaro Hylander in the parallel universe, what would he
be like?

I think he would be exactly like this one or at least I hope that he wouldn’t be anevil mastermind! Mwahahahaha!! (evil laugh)

What can the people expect from you and your new and upcoming
deep house label, DeepWit Recordings?

Well… Until now we haven’t said much about DeepWit as we like to keep thingssecret, but DeepWit Newsletter will be a way to stay up to date with what’sgoing on. We are also preparing our first Sampler for Spring 2011 with some realfresh and inspiring sounds. All that together with some serious releases along theyear not just for DeepWit, but for me as well.

There is coming a first taste of the label’s sound (Alvaro Hylander – WeavingDreams) for free to all of our followers on the different sites such as Facebook:http://www.facebook.com/pages/DeepWit-Recordings/104823792916714And of course to our newsletter readers: http://www.deepwitrecordings.com

Alvaro Hylander- Feels Right

Friday, January 28, 2011

Soundscapes by Motionmigs is very grateful to have received this special four-track release, "Feels Right" from Spanish deep house producer, Alvaro Hylander! Before we, however, go through the tracks of this spectacular Alma Soul Music release, let us first talk about the man behind all of these. Alvaro Hylander, although of Spanish descent, is currently based in Denmark. As a producer, he has worked with various labels like Da Funk's Acryl Music, Solardish, and a lot of other labels including Alma Soul Music. For those who do not know yet, Hylander is currently working on his biggest project to date-- his very own deep house label entitled, DeepWit Recordings

Feels Right (Original Mix)
The unadulterated deep house sound of Alvaro Hylander is clearly manifested in the original mix of "Feels Right". Smooth, laid-back and eclectic in nature, "Feels Right", with its sliding bass, is definitely something for the true deep house connoisseurs out there!

Feels Right (Seraphine Remix)
Dubbed with a couple of stylish Rhode organ chords, and a slightly-electrifying bass, "Feels Right" takes on a hipper route from the original.

Visions of Maydell (Original Mix)
"Visions of Maydell" drifts to a more hypnotic atmosphere with its eminent deep rhythms and dropping bass. Aside from which, its heart-pounding kicks do their job in pumping more energy into the track.

Visions of Maydell (Dario RC Deepness Remix)
Louder kicks, louder bass, louder everything-- Dario RC's Deepness Remix is a certified mind-blowing tune! It's quite difficult not to groove to this masterpiece. . .
