D'Flower feat. Gayana- Stand in the Rain

Saturday, July 7, 2012

About:

No other producer flawlessly blends soul-tingling saxophones and house music as D'Flower does! Russian DJ, producer, composer, and keyboardist Ivan Boyarkin aka. D'Flower  appears on Spring Tube with a wonderful release, "Stand in the Rain" featuring the vocals of Gayana. Aside from the original, radio edit, instrumental, and soul versions, "Stand in the Rain" garners two remixes from our favorite deep and soulful house producers, Estonia's Ricky Inch!

Sounds Like:

Think of a perfect moonlit night by the terrace, with a soundtrack composed of pianos to accompany the night-breeze, funky bassline to give some groove, warm vocals to give life, and  four-on-the-floor drums to bind them all together. This somehow captures the true essence of D'Flower's "Stand in the Rain", but we're lacking something. Of course, the trademark soulful saxophone solo of saxophonist Daniil Dubrovsky which gracefully enters and sweeps through the double-beat breakdown, and back to the four-by-four!

Ricky Inch once again showcases his "NuSoul" sound-- his signature blend of deep and soulful sounds that gives off this distinct classy, warm, and easy-going feel. True enough, his NuSoul reinterpretation of "Stand in the Rain" lives up to the hype!

The "Organic Dub" of Ricky Inch caters a more raw yet-- as stated in the remix title-- organic approach to "Stand in the Rain". With this sound, Ricky Inch takes elements from Latin beach house to acid house and from Chicago house to deep-tech-- a perfect alternative to the other soulful tracks in this release!

Recommendation:

Superb release! Ever since we started writing for D'Flower and Ricky Inch, we always looked forward to more from them. This release having Ricky Inch as a remixer was pretty much expected (or have been anticipated) for a long time now. Bringing both artists together is just awesome! We recommend getting all the tracks by D'Flower and Ricky Inch's NuSoul remix if you love soulful house. If you however are feeling a bit more adventurous when it comes to your musical palette, then Ricky Inch's Organic dub is for you!

Sachrias & Aslak - Strömsö [Part 1]

Friday, November 4, 2011

About:

Sachrias & Aslak are two Finnish producers who joined forces back in 2007. For more than a decade now, the two have gone a long way in their solo careers: both have frequented the underground scene of Helsinki through countless appearances and promotions.

This time around, the duo has once again released a huge winter deep house release entitled, "Strömsö under the Texas-based house music label, Cromarti. Emphasis on the word, "huge". To aid them in this release,  veteran artists from around the world take part with their respective remixes: Dana Bergquist & Peder G [Sweden], Latenta Project [Macedonia], Ricky Inch [Estonia], Elastic Sound [Russia], and Manwoman.

Sounds Like:

Chilled deep house sound for the winter with a dash of dazzling melodies that will set your mind afloat. For Dana Bergquist & Peder G remix, expect an 80's new wave inspired sound that perfectly blends in with that of the original.  Latenta Project and Elastic Sound did what they do best  in their respective renditions-- to come up with tight groovy deep house masterpieces.

Ricky Inch, on the other hand, extends his NuSoul sound to "Strömsö"  by landing a soulful, funky, saxy, and fresh cut! Last is Manwoman with a downtempo take on "Strömsö", and this is something that brings to life winter-inspired atmospheric pads, loungy pianos, and jazzy keys.

Recommendations:

Huge release this is, and all tracks stood out in their own ways. For Strömsö  Part 1, we recommend listening all the tracks. Yup, all of them. Also, if you've enjoyed this release, there's a second installment of it, and it's already out on your favorite download portals!

Sasha feat. Krister Linder - Cut Me Down (Ricky Inch Nu:Soul Bootleg)

Saturday, August 20, 2011

A couple of weeks back, Sasha put together a remix contest for his hit single with Krister Linder, "Cut Me Down". As expected, hundreds and hundreds of entries flooded Soundcloud and the net, but only a few had been chosen for the official release.

[Insider's Review] Gabor Deutsch Feat. N'dea Davenport- Love With Desire (Ricky Inch Remixes)

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

Estonia's Ricky Inch made two special remixes just for Gabor Deutsch and N'dea Davenport's "Love With Desire", which was officially released worldwide last April 18. Last week, we were able to get in touch with the man behind the two highly-acclaimed remixes for "Love With Desire"-- Ricky Inch.

The original release peaked in the Traxsource Top 40 singles chart weeks before the worldwide release date, while Ricky Inch's newly-found sound, the nu:soul remix, reached top 30 of track sales on the said music portal. Ricky indicates that the nu:soul remix of "Love With Desire" was also included in the Dublife Miami sampler which may have probably hindered the remix in reaching a higher placement due to splitting of sales.

For the special Ricky Inch nu:soul remix, Ricky stated that his new sound is a combination of his trademark lightly-glazed deep one combined with a sound he has been exploring lately-- nu-disco. The Ricky Inch dub mix, however, is something that preserves the essence of the original track while effortlessly incorporating Inch's trademark sound. In addition to this, Ricky Inch emphasizes:
There are times a remix by an artist sounds different from the original, and some people may like it, and some may not. But for me, it does not really matter because the most important thing for me is that the final result of the remix must be something good for the remixer and the original artist. If people like it, then it's good. There are also people who may not like it, and I have understood that fact long before already.
For Inch, there is no point in coming up with a remix that sounds similar to the original already. When accepting remix duties, it's always better to put in something different for the package rather than making something that sounds like the other remixes.

Music consumers, in Ricky's opinion, give importance to variation when it comes to releases and remixes, which is why he is pushing forward a diversified sound in the music scene. "Although, of course, every artist is entitled to his own opinion," Ricky follows up.

Vinyl Dharma - Infidelity

Sunday, June 20, 2010

It was late April when we first had our hands on Ricky Inch’s “CLAZZ”, an eight-piece compilation that provided us our daily dose of soulful, jazzy, and classy deep house music! In that magnificent release, we first heard the “Ricky Inch & Golden Tony Jazzy Treatment” of Vinyl Dharma’s “Infidelity”. However, just last June 16, Cromarti Records spawned a new release that catered four exciting renditions of “Infidelity”, in which three came from Ricky Inch, and one from Hernan Cerbello.

Infidelity (Ricky Inch Back in 77 Mix)

As many would agree, the staple of this release is once again jazz-infused deep house music, but in this track, we get to hear defined vintage sounds from Inch. For the Back in 77 mix, Ricky Inch incorporates some elements from the disco era like the walking bassline and the swaying strings to his trademark style.

Infidelity (Ricky Inch Soulful Dub)

This next one is a remix that organic house music enthusiasts would enjoy. Groovy bass-work, soulful guitar solos, hip percussion, and sedative piano chords-- this Soulful dub from Ricky Inch definitely brings out the true essence of the music!

Infidelity (Ricky Inch Ambie Dub)

So we already have a disco-esque and soulful versions from Ricky Inch, and for the third, an ambient-oriented version for the beach or for your chill out sessions. This Ambie Dub relies heavily on warm pads, chilled synth-work as well as tropical-themed percussion-- this is how Ricky Inch does chill out music.

Infidelity (Hernan Cerbello We Used To Dub)

Hernan Cerbello is not a new name anymore. Actually, his sound has been spreading far and wide reaching record labels that include Anjunadeep. For this release, Hernan kicks off this remix with lush and disco-rendered sounds topped with infectious vocal dubs.

We finally get to experience highly-sophisticated music once again from Ricky Inch! With more than ten years of background in the deeper side of house music, there is without a doubt that we can expect more wonders from him in the near future!
