Chriss Ronson feat. Yvel & Tristan - Primetime

Sunday, July 11, 2010

Today we visit a 2009 deep house release from Cabrio Germany in which most of its contributing artists hail all the way from Hungary. Chriss Ronson, Yvel, and Tristan joined forces to collectively release "Primetime", a four-tracker that caters a wide variety of polished deep house sound. Moreover, fellow Hungarian producer, Forteba and Estonian deep house icon, Ricky Inch also step in for their respective interpretations of "Primetime".

Primetime (Original Mix)
The alpha track can actually handle a standalone release with its unmatched potential and quality. Primetime caters smoothly-driven chords backed with a slick and groovy bass-work. Definitely another track that deserves peak-time play during deep house sets, this is Chriss Ronson & Yvel & Tristan's Primetime.

Primetime (Ricky Inch Remix)
What is a deep house release without a remix from the mastermind of deep house music? As mentioned, Ricky Inch joins the fun with, not just one, but two remixes for Primetime! First off, an authentic deep house anthem infused with a little hints of disco elements. Also, piano hooks enhance the Ricky Inch remix.

Primetime (Ricky Inch Sax Mix)
Ricky Inch takes two for this spectacular release! Ricky Inch plus sax equals glory.

Primetime (Forteba Remix)
Dobrocsi Krisztián Forteba turns Primetime into a classy chill-out groover. The Forteba remix of Primetime provides its listeners a melting pot of atmospheric pads, sharper chords, ecstatic-sounding strings, warm synths, and of course, a deep-drifting bassline. Uplift, chill, or dance with Forteba's remix of Primetime-- it is one highly-sophisticated track!

Another release from Cabrio, and they keep getting better!

Tuesday, June 29, 2010

With a stage-name that puts his sounds into words, and a release titled in such a hip manner, it looks like Da Funk's latest release on Cabrio Records, "Weekend Rubdown", will surprise quite a number of deep house connoisseurs out there once again. Moreover, two suave remixes from Mastercris and Ricky Inch heighten the excitement-factor of this release.

Weekend Rubdown (Original Mix)
We know it's Da Funk's sound when we hear it. Weekend Rubdown, the original mix, is a track packed with saturated leads and bass-work, calm atmosphere, well-reverbed synths, and a vocalesque hook. Weekend Rubdown is the ideal tune for cooling down on a Friday night.

Weekend Rubdown (Mastercris Remix)
An impressive stomping version of the original mix is crafted by a well-respected producer, Mastercris. With the shuffling melodies of the synths and chords, as well as the looped vocal sample, there's no way you would not dance to this track!

Weekend Rubdown (Ricky Inch Galactic 77 Remix)
As always, Estonian producer, Ricky Inch takes things to the next level. His Galactic 77 mix of "Weekend Rubdown" delivers a vast array of melodies all flawlessly integrated together. Inch's musical backbone, the jazzy bassline, and spherical atmosphere are just some of the components that make this track highly-sophisticated!

Simon Grey & Dave Storm ft. Nathalie Dorra- Signs

Thursday, May 13, 2010

A couple of weeks ago, we were able to listen to the "Clazz EP"-- a special compilation made by Estonian producer, Ricky Inch-- and was released under Ceremony Records. This time around, we take a look at a fresh vocal release from the label: "Simon Grey & Dave Storm ft. Nathalie Dorra - Signs", with remixes from Deep Josh, Pete Gust & Lefthander, and Ricky Inch.

Signs (Original Mix)
German producer Simon Grey and label A&R manager Dave Storm kicks off a suave and jazzy track, "Signs" with Nathalie Dorra as vocalist. If you are a person who enjoys listening to funky anthems, mellow melodies, jazzy basslines, and soulful vocals, then you'll do good with this release!

Signs (Deep Josh Dub Mix)
Deep Josh also takes remix duties for "Signs" and here we have it, a warmer rendition of the track. The bustling percussions also are something to look forward to in this remix!

Signs (Pete Gust & Lefthander Remix)
Pete Gust & Lefthander worked together to produce a downbeat and lounge version of the original. The Pete Gust & Lefthander remix caters emotionally-drawn piano melodies and a very suave guitar solo-- pretty impressive.

Signs (Ricky Inch Remix)
As always, Ricky Inch never fails to amaze his listeners with his juicy and bouncy jazz-infused sound! This remix is the opposite of the former remix because we get to hear upbeat and groovy basslines on this one. Aside from that, the filtered chords, guitar samples, and piano breakdowns bring the whole piece to perfection.

Amazing release right here. . .

Ricky Inch presents CLAZZ

Monday, April 26, 2010

Music genres evolve— yes, they do— but their evolution does not spell out obsoleteness. Take jazz music for instance, it has been made audible to human ear since the early 1910s; however, we still hear the genre and its renditions at present age. Going much more specific, one of the very noticeable effects of jazz, with touches of funk and soul music, is its heavy influence on deep house music.

Estonia-based house producer Ricky Inch is one of the genre’s new leading emissaries. We first heard his name on my review on his remix on Dezza’s Good, which was released under Nellie Recordings weeks ago, but he’s on the hot spot once again.

As one of the key members of Ceremony/ Cabrio Records, Ricky Inch releases CLAZZ, an eight-track compilation of his jazzy picks, including his very own crafts on the label.

CLAZZ is a chalk full of unadulterated jazz elements, from the ever-soulful saxophone solos as heard from Rain Before by D’Flower to seemingly walking basslines from Ricky Inch’s Jazz Maniac and Äzzy Groovee, and Vinyl Dharma’s Infidelity (Ricky Inch & Golden Tony Jazzy Treatment), while Elastic Sound’s TechJazz (Ricky Inch Remix) having both!

We also get to hear fuzzy guitar leads and hushed piano keys from Long Way (Ksky Chilin Mix) by the MHB Crew. Adding a vocal edge to the release, Kyka’s Feelin Good does the job with its Matisyahu-like vocal hooks and beach-drenched feel. But if you’re looking for a much more ambient track akin to the ones from Café del Mar while still having a pinch of brass instrument samples, then Les Rues Du Jazz, a track from St. Maarten, is for you!

Jazz is class—that is all you need to know.
