Da Funk- Need For Faith
Saturday, December 10, 2011
About:
Swiss producer and Acryl Music head honcho Da Funk, takes over for the label's golden release, "Need For Faith"! Acryl Music has been industry since 2004, but it is only now that the label releases its 50th release-- a clear sign that it's always quality over quantity for Da Funk and the guys behind the label. Together with the original, expect authentic deep house remixes from Si Brad (Simon Bradshaw), Pete Moss, Elmar Schubert, and Q-Burns Abstract Message.
Sounds Like:
"Need For Faith" caters the unifying sound of Acryl and the trademark fat analog bass driven sound of Da Funk. Aside from which, you can expect a smooth-flowing line-up of hazy, spherical, and echoing synths.
Si Brad's remix spells vintage all over-- edgy discoid bass, deep atmosphere, and hypnotizing synths. Pennsylvania's Pete Moss drops a lush yet stubby remix of "Need For Faith", while German producer, Elmar Schubert turns over a chic and irresistible reinterpretation. For the last remix, "Need For Faith" falls onto the hands of Q-Burns Abstract Message as it turns into one intricate piece-- head-nodding stabs, tunnel-echoing atmospheric pads, analog bass all perfectly patched up together!
Recommendation:
We would not be wasting our time in writing a proper review of a release not worth recommending, would we? But we also couldn't help announcing our favorite picks in the release either!
So here it goes: the original mix is fantastic-- it perfectly sums up what Acryl Music is all about. Much respect to Da Funk! For our favorite remix, it's got to be Elmar Schubert's: so seemingly simple (but we producers know it's not) yet its addicting groove is out of this world!

Dush feat. Mr. Maph- Turn it Around [Part 1]
Wednesday, August 31, 2011
Germany-based Solardish Records once released "Turn it Around" by Dush feat. Mr. Maph on their "Solardish Ibiza Sampler 2010", but this time around, it's back in full-force! The remix package from Solardish Records comes in two parts: part one having been released a few days ago contains the original mix, the Javier Varez remix, the Jeremy Juno & Bruze DAngelo Remix, and SBRO remix. The second part, to be released on September 12, will feature remixes from Stewart McCarthy, The Modular Deviant Device, and of course, the spectacular deep house tandem and Solardish Records owners, Zweiklang Twins!
We were actually surprised to have found out that the person behind Dush is a good friend of ours. Denmark-based, deep house producer, label owner-- these things do sound familiar, don't they? But of course we wont tell you who he really is, so if you really want to know more about him, do some research!
Turn it Around (Original Mix)
Dush teams up with Mr. Maph, a very talented Gospel-inspired vocalist who now resides in Marbella, Spain. The original mix is a melting pot of soulful vocals, deep cloudy atmosphere, and silky-smooth synths. If you are a seasoned deep house aficionado, you will know that this particular track is a track of quality.
Turn it Around (Javier Varez Remix)
Hats-off to the Javier Varez remix, our favorite rendition in the entire package! Varez, now based in Madrid, delivers a stunning and glimmering remix of "Turn it Around". On a side note, Javier Varez also is the driving force behind Alma Soul Music.
Turn it Around (Jeremy Juno & Bruze DAngelo Remix)
Chilled down yet groovy-- just how they do it in the cold north! Dutch producers Jeremy Juno and Bruze DAngelo also appear on "Turn it Around" Part 1 with a smooth-flowing head-nodding tune.
Turn it Around (SBRO Remix)
Now something from the UK, SBRO remixes "Turn it Around" as the last track in this installment. If there would be a dub version of "Turn it Around", this SBRO remix would perfectly be the one!
High-profile deep house artists and label owners coming together for "Turn it Around" the remix release-- things can't get any better than this! Catch part 2 soon!

Deep Spelle- Wet Road EP
Friday, July 29, 2011
Just three days ago, the highly-anticipated fourth release on Denmark-based deep house label, DeepWit Recordings just saw light! We are, of course, talking about "Wet Road", a four-track release from French Quebec-based producer, Brice Martin-Spelle aka. Deep Spelle. In addition, DeepWit made sure that this package would get a decent set of remixers, and that is where the seasoned Helly Larson and the duo HouseRiders would come in! Take a deep breath because "Wet Road" will definitely take you deeper than you can ever imagine!
The first track we listened to was "Wet Road", and it really set the mood for this release. Take a track by Sebastian Davidson and Vincent Casanova, and inject multiple layers of hazy atmospheric pads-- you would get something like the original mix of "Wet Road". The Helly Larson Remix, on the other hand, lessens the atmosphere and adds more groove to the track. Both the original and remix versions of "Wet Road" are of pure quality, be sure to support both!
"The Way You Treat Me" comes in two variants, the original and the HouseRiders remix. The original also embodies Deep Spelle's lush deep sound, plus the subtle saxophone melodies that had been flawlessly incorporated in the track-- this truly is a deep house masterpiece. HouseRiders, a project by Deep Spelle himself and Jeff Fontaine, also put together a special remixed dubbed as "HouseRiders Lovin' the Way Mix" for the last track of this release.
Does this last track give "Wet Road" the heightened close this release deserves? Check it out for yourselves, and send us some feedback!

2 Stupid Gods- In the Dziurka EP
Thursday, May 19, 2011
2 Stupid Gods is not one of those costumed duos playing electro bangers in warehouse gigs. 2 Stupid Gods is actually a Polish duo made up of Piotr Bejnar and Jacek Tworkowski who just released a splendid release, "In the Dziurka" on one of the world's most prestigious deep house labels, Night Drive Music! For the remixes, expect top-notched material from SLG, Po-_On, and the tandem Mikita & Juerga.
In the Dziurka (Original)
It starts with a loop of vocal snippets, rhodes loops, and the magic comes in! The original version of "In the Dziurka" is a track that spells out summer, love, bliss, all in one track-- a perfect five star for this!
In the Dziurka (SLG Remix)
Lukasz Seliga, another Polish artist, appears on this release as SLG! Seliga goes to the body-jerking side of tech as he unleashes his brilliant reinterpretation as second in the package.
In the Dziurka (Po-_On Remix)
This remix is the proper, for the lack of a better term, "club mix" of the release with its loops and rejuvenating piano solo. Although the looping build-up is a bit lengthy, it prepares its listeners to the interplay of the said piano solo and the loops! Pure class.
In the Dziurka (Mikita & Juerga Remix)
Yet another duo of talented Polish producers joins the fun! Mikolaj Mikita and Kuba Juerga Maćkowski send in a stunning rework of the original. Remixed into something people can really dance to while at the same time retaining the essence of the original version of
"In the Dziurka"-- and this is the main reason why we find the Mikita & Juerga remix as our personal favorite!
In the Dziurka (Piano Edit- Digital Only)
Roughly a week ago the vinyl release of "In the Dziurka" hit the stores worldwide, and everyone loved the pink marble design of the vinyl. Now that the digital copies have reached the online portals, the guys behind 2 Stupid Gods have something in store for all you people who prefer MP3s over vinyls, and it's this magnificent piano edit! What do you think of this version? We would like to hear from you!

Evren Ulusoy- Chord Interrupted
Saturday, April 16, 2011
Evren Ulusoy, a name known to all deep house connoisseurs, is responsible for this latest release, Chord Interrupted EP, on the one and only Night Drive Music! In their efforts to bring to life the true essence of the track, producers Matt Masters, Pawas, and Jon Silva put together their own reinterpretations of Chord Interrupted-- all superbly produced and lined-up.
Chord Interrupted (Original)
Evren's original take is an intricate piece bringing forth clearly-combined deep house chords, tropical-inspired percussion and flutes, as well as a melancholic piano progression. Indulge your ears in deep and rich sound with Evren Ulusoy's Chord Interrupted!
Chord Interrupted (Matt Masters Club Mix)
Matt Masters strips down the energy a bit for his remix and introduces a tech makeover to Chord Interrupted. In his attempt to create a club-tailored version, Matt puts together looping piano samples, dark edgy chords, and metallic percussion. This is the first of two remixes from Matt Masters.
Chord Interrupted (Pawas Remix)
Germany-based producer Pawas Gupta goes groovy on Chord Interrupted. Its flawlessly combined deep and groovy elements allows Chord Interrupted (Pawas Remix) to be dropped in any dance-floor far and wide. For groove and deep junkies, this one's for you!
Chord Interrupted (Matt Masters Sunset Mix)
Second remix from Matt Masters is this Matt Masters Sunset Mix. This time around, the remix contains downtempo elements and hazy make-up.
Chord Interrupted (Jon Silva's Bat Country Mix)
Jon Silva hails from Germany is a deep house producer and director for a label called Pesto Music. Like Matt Masters, Jon drops two unique remixes for the package! First off is Jon Silva's Bat Country Mix-- expect stubby basslines and a laidback vibe on this one!
Chord Interrupted (Jon Silva's Tahrir Mix)
For his second remix, as well as the last on this release, Jon Silva packs in something surprising for all his listeners. That's right-- going back to the past to relive that infectious stab-play, Silva's Tahrir Mix caters riffs that will definitely keep you dancing until you drop!

Modern Walker- Liuba Iswa EP
Friday, April 1, 2011
Barcelona-based deep tech-house label, Sophisticate Recordings, is Alex V's effort to show the world his interpretation of fine house music. Joining in for the label's latest release, Liuba Iswa EP is Modern Walker, a German producer who has an ear for silky-smooth grooves. This release, of course, wont be complete without some touches from Sophisticate's head honcho, Alex V!
Its (Original Mix)
The first track on the release is of a unique blend of minimal, deep, glitch, and tech house music. Even if it carries influences from various electronic genres, "Its" stays slow and steady to emphasize the lush atmospheric pads and glitchy samples Modern Walker has put into play.
Its (Alex V Remix)
In contrast to the original mix, Alex V's remix caters a more dance-able sound thanks to its slow yet groovy bass. Aside from which, the Alex V remix of "Its" brings to life more bustling percussion and hi-hats that complement the glitch samples in the track. The echoing stabs also come in to bring more edge to the track. Now if you're wondering what the true sound of Sophisticate is, you just got your answer.
Don't Run (Original Mix)
Stepping into minimal territory, "Don't Run", is the third and last track of this release! Prepare yourselves for something sedative. . .
Liuba Iswa EP by Modern Walker is the latest of Sophisticate Recordings, and is now available for download!
